Sports
The Iowa Park and Recreation Association Sports Committee organizes two major events per year. These include: 1) Adult Volleyball and 2) incooperation with Iowa Amateur Softball Association the Men's 14" Slowpitch State Tournament. Questions: Steven Jordison, 515-291-4917, steve@iapra.org
Adult VolleyballThree adult tournaments are offered each season. Teams do not need to be USA Volleyball sanctioned as this is not a sanctioned tournament. The event is offered for enjoyment as well as light competiveness. Entry fee TBA. Champion receive t-shirts; runner-up receive trophy. NFL Punt, Pass, and KickBoth National Recreation and Park Association and IPRA strongly advocate local park and recreation agencies host a PPK competition. This program is offering free of charge. Participants advance out of locals with the possibility of competing as one of 40 on the national level! There are five separate age/gender divisions: 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15. In Iowa, the state contact is via Minnesota Vikings - Mark Brandes 319-239-2715. Host kit includes: one age verification chart, one junior size football (ages 6-11), one intermediate size football (ages 12-15), two kicking tees, first/second/third place ribbons, promotional posters, and an envelope to return all completed waivers. Results must be completed online. As of June 25, nine communities are hosting a local event. Let’s get all 125 IPRA member agencies involved!
